There are many reasons why Krk is termed the golden island. It is because of its wealth in the fruits of nature: in virgin olive oil, a glass of the sun streaked wine that goes by the name "žlahtina", in the lambs that graze alongside the old drystone walls, the commotion caused by schools of fish attracted by lamplight fishing boat. Guests discovered this island as long ago as the 19th century. Even down to this day have not ceased enjoying its beaches, its hidden coves and gastronomic delights and the gifts of its autochtonous cuisine.
