The river Krka and the Krka National Park split this region symmetrically, and it is here that the town of Šibenik is Located. A monument to Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, its architectural wealth is of such magnitude thet the Cathedral of St. Jakov and the old town centre have been listed as World Curtural Heritage Sites by UNESCO. In this region, even today the ancient tradition of sponge-fishing is maintained by the folk of the Island of Krpanj, and that of coral harvesting on the Island of Zlarin. The town of Vodice, the best-known tourist centre of the Šibenik region, is located within a sheltered cove.
