Information for boat owners
Marina services Marinas in the Croatian Adriatic stretch along the entire coast and provide a wide range of services. Most marinas offer highly standardized berths and are open
throughout the year. Apart from the basic services of berth, reception desk and sanitary facilities, there are various additional services such as repair services, cranes and travel lifts, estaurants, cafés and snack bars, as well as various shops. The basic services provided by all marinas are berth rental on a daily and annual basis.
Annual or permanent berth rental
Annual or permanent berths are intended for owners wishing to keep their boats in the Adriatic for a longer period. Most marinas provide berth rental on an annual basis, which is renewed annually after the termination of contract period, whereas some marinas offer berth rental for several years or time-share berths.
The price of annual or permanent berth varies according to marina and depends on the vessel’s length overall and beam. The price usually includes surveillance of vessel, covering vessel with owner’s awning, use of sanitary facilities, standard power and water consumption. The annual or permanent berth applies to mooring berths and storage on land. In most marinas the Contract of annual berth rental does not allow combination of both mooring berths and storage on land.
However, the holder of the Contract of annual mooring berth is usually entitled to a discount for storage on land. Aside from providing the service of annual mooring berths, some marinas provide special offers that are charged extra for storage on land during the winter and the crane- pass which provides service of
storage on land together with the use of crane several times. In most marinas the annual or permanent berth rental fee is paid in advance. Also, the annual or permanent berth rental fee for boats used for charter purposes or those engaged in other commercial activities is greater than that of boats for private use.
Administrative costs
In most marinas holders of the Contract of annual or permanent berth rental, additionally to the annual fee will be charged an administrative fee covering wintering license costs. This fee, which in most marinas is charged 40 Euro, is paid together with the berth rental fee and applies to foreign flag vessels.
Owners of vessels sailing under the Croatian flag are exempt from such an administrative fee.
Tourist tax flat rate
Boat owners having stipulated a Contract of annual or permanent berth rental are obliged to pay the tourist tax at a determined flat rate per boat once a year.
Daily berth rental
Daily berths are intended for all visitors of marinas wishing to stay in a marina occasionally for one or more days. Prices vary according to marinas and depend on the time of year and number of days of stay. For a longer stay on a daily berth some marinas offer a discount or possibility of berth rental on a monthly
basis. In July and August the daily berth rental fee in most marinas increases by 10%. Most marinas do not offer possibilities of advance booking for daily berth rental. Apart from daily berth rental fee, the tourist tax is charged on a per
day/per person basis.
Harbor code of conduct
In most marinas all guests and employees shall obey the harbor code of conduct standardized in principle for all marinas and consists of the following: • the owner of the vessel shall provide a third party insurance policy • for each boat calling in a marina the sailor shall take the documents of the
vessel as well as the navigation license and deposit them at the reception of the marina • besides the documents of the vessel, holders of annual or permanent berth shall keep at the reception the keys of the vessel • once the berth holder takes over the documents (as well as the keys of the vessel for holders of the annual/permanent berth) the marina shall not be
liable regardless whether the vessel left the marina • a person authorized by the marina may if necessary transfer the vessel to another berth against prior notification of the owner
• the owner of the vessel shall provide appropriate equipment such as awning, lanes and firefighting devices
• skimming or surfing is not allowed in marinas or their immediate waters
Note:
During the stay in all national parks, one should adhere to the park’s code of conduct. Each national park has its own service responsible for inspecting such code of conduct. Any sea or environment pollution or dropping litter at places where such is forbidden shall be subject to severe penalty.
• waste oil, greases and other waste shall be deposited in appropriate containers • any sea or environment pollution is subject to severe penalty • boat sanitary facilities are not to be used in marinas • the maximum speed within the marina waters is 2 knots • after leaving the vessel all power and water supply shall be removed from
the vessel • cleaning of the boat is additionally charged in mostly all marinas, as well as potable water supply
• any greater repairs on the vessel that could disturb other guests or possibly cause damage on the neighboring vessels are not permitted • most marinas provide parking places for cars subject to availability at extra cost Besides the general code of conduct each marina possesses a special harbor code of conduct that is an integral part of its commercial business conditions taking into consideration the peculiarities of each marina and its guests.

For further information concerning berth rental fees in marinas, contact the marina of interest. The same applies for the use of all other marina services. Based on the cooperation with certain clubs and institutions some marinas offer additional discounts to holders of certain membership cards. All marinas accept major credit cards as a way of payment. In most marinas the berth rental fee for catamarans and trimarans, regardless of
service category, is increased by 50%.
