The most protected harbour of the central Adriatic, near the mouth of the Krka River as it enters the sea belongs to the city of Šibenik, the centre of a tourist region with two national parks and a green hinterland that naturally blends into the coastline, the wealth of culture and historical heritage and the beauties of the local waters with their lacework of as many as 240 larger and smaller islands and rocks.
